Suffering from chronic elbow pain?

THE ELBOW IS HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO INJURY. DUE TO CONSENT USE.

Suffering from chronic elbow pain?

ELBOW PAIN SYMPTOMS

Dependent on the underlying cause of the pain, elbow symptoms can be varied. Below are common signs and symptoms:

- Pain on the inside or outside of your elbow

- Discomfort worse for gripping

- Aching worse at the end of the day

- Stiffness

- Swelling

- Tenderness to touch

COMMON CAUSES OF ELBOW PAIN

As with all joints, a variety of conditions and injuries can affect the elbow joint, causing pain, swelling and a number of other unpleasant symptoms. Some of the most common conditions we see among our patients in Solihull and Birmingham include:

Golfer's elbow - Tendinitis

Golfer’s elbow affects the tendons that connect your forearm to the elbow. It causes pain that starts on the inside of your elbow joint and radiates down the forearm. It is often associated with pain on gripping and putting pressure on the inside of the fingers.

Tennis elbow - Tendinitis

Similar to Golfer's elbow, Tennis elbow is an overuse injury that results in pain of the tendons on the outside of the elbow along with joint pain that worsens when squeezing objects again. Although it’s quite common among tennis players, it can also affect other athletes and individuals as well.

Elbow bursitis

At the back of the elbow is the olecranon bursa, which is a small, fluid-filled sac that acts as a cushion between the bone and soft tissues. When this bursa becomes irritated and inflamed, it can cause pain and swelling.

Osteoarthritis

Arthritis of the elbow develops when the cartilage inside your joint starts to ware or becomes damaged. This can then cause pain and stiffness.

Sprain

A sprain occurs when the ligaments that support the bones of the elbow joint stretch or tear, causing pain, swelling and bruising.

Muscle strain

This happens when the muscles around the elbow become torn. This type of injury has a tendency to cause pain on motion.

Sports injury

Common among throwing athletes, this injury tends to occur gradually over time, causing pain and limited range of motion.

Gout

Painful inflamed joint reaction to increased levels of uric acid in the blood.

TREATMENT FOR YOUR ELBOW PAIN

After establishing the cause of your elbow pain, we can begin treating the underlying predisposing factors. Throughout this treatment, our aim will be to relieve your symptoms and also to prevent further joint damage by reducing inflammation and allowing for natural repair of the damages tissues. All treatments are aimed to prevent surgery. On some occasions instead we may focus exclusively on minimally-invasive regenerative ortho-biological treatments, such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy, hyaluronic acid injections and/or cortisone or homeopathic traumeel injections.
