PRP Injections. What is Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a completely natural procedure where a patients blood is taken (20ml) and then separated using a centrifuge, thus producing a high concentration of platelets that can be used to help and treat a number of things. Other than clotting of our blood, platelets also provide tremendous potential in enhancing the rapid healing of muscles, tendons, ligaments and even cartilage. Studies have continued to report that growth factors, which are released from platelets can vastly help improve and speed up the repairing of tissue, and accelerate the healing process by adding a higher concentration of growth factors and cytokines (inflammatory cells) by creating a PRP sample.  What can PRP be used for? PRP therapy works best for chronic ligament and tendon issues and that have not benefitted from other conservative forms of treatment, but we have seen fantastic progress and results in many conditions. Some examples below: • shoulder pain. Shoulder tendonitis.    Rotator cuff injuries, including moderate muscle tear. • Elbow pain. Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow • Hamstring and hip strains. Muscle tears and tendinitis. • Knee pain. Ligament sprains and instability. Knee cartilage damage. Meniscal damage. • Patellofemoral syndrome and patellar tendonitis (knee cap) • Ankle pain, injury and sprains • Achilles tendonitis & plantar fasciitis • Knee, hip, and other joint osteoarthritis • (SI) joint dysfunction and pain PRP injections here at Dynamic Regenerative Medicine Warwickshire are proven effective for many cases of osteoarthritis by stimulating cartilage healing, at the same time of reducing pain and disability. which includes: • Knee arthritis • Shoulder arthritis • Ankle arthritis As well as joint and tendon issues PRP injections are also frequently used to treat hair loss and for skin rejuvenation by stimulating both hair follicles and collagen, this has also given some staggering results and fantastic clinical outcomes.
